• Origin & Production: The liqueur is made from the sour Marasca cherry variety, which the Luxardo family cultivates in the Veneto region of Italy. The process involves an alcoholic infusion of the cherries (including skins, pits, and stems) for up to three years, followed by distillation in copper pot stills. The distillate is then aged in Finnish ashwood vats and finally blended with a simple syrup to reach a bottling strength of around 32% ABV.
• Flavor Profile: Luxardo Maraschino offers a unique taste that is not overtly sweet. It features prominent notes of cherry-stone bitterness, bitter almond, and subtle woody or herbal undertones, derived from the cherry pits and aging process. Its color is crystal clear.
• Iconic Packaging: The liqueur is instantly recognizable by its tall, green bottle, which is still hand-plaited in straw—a tradition from the early days in Zara (modern-day Croatia) to protect the bottle during transport.
