Puerto de Indias Black Edition is made with citrus, jasmine and vanilla for creating more floral G&Ts. This edition is bottled at the slightly higher ABV of 40% (their classic edition is bottled at 37.5% ABV).
- Strawberry (pink gin): This version is the most popular.
- Aroma: Strong and sweet strawberry scent.
- Taste: Dominated by strawberry, with a subtle hint of juniper and citrus to keep it from being overly sweet. Some find it has a jam-like sweetness or a hint of bitterness.
- Juniper: Less prominent than in traditional gins.
- Finish: Smooth and fresh.
- Classic (non-flavored):
- Aroma: Notes of citrus fruits and vanilla.
- Taste: Harmonious play between citrus, juniper, and vanilla notes. It is described as being smooth and not overly dry.
- With tonic: This is the most common way to drink it, especially the Strawberry version. A classic Indian tonic works well, but some recommend using a flavored tonic to enhance the fruit notes.
- Garnishes: Orange peel or sliced strawberries are popular garnishes for the Strawberry gin. For the Classic version, orange peel can highlight the orange blossom and vanilla notes.
- In cocktails: The fruit-forward character makes it a good base for a variety of cocktails.
- Neat: Some reviews suggest it can be enjoyed neat, but others find it benefits from being mixed with tonic.
- Strawberry gin: Great for those who enjoy fruity and sweet gins and are looking for a modern alternative to traditional London dry styles.
- Classic gin: A good choice for those who appreciate a balanced, slightly sweet, and floral gin that isn’t overwhelmingly juniper-forward.
