The world’s most popular brand of Amaretto liqueur, Disaronno was first created in 1525. Contrary to popular belief, this is not made from almonds, but instead gets its nutty flavour from apricot pits!
- Flavor Profile: Disaronno offers a velvety, sweet taste with notes of marzipan, toasted nuts, vanilla, and hints of apricot. It has a smooth, lingering finish with a light sweetness.
- Appearance: The liqueur has a bright amber color. It is presented in an iconic, square-shaped, faceted glass bottle, designed by a master glassmaker from Murano, Venice, which has become a design classic.
- Alcohol Content: The standard Disaronno Originale has an alcohol content of 28% by volume (56 proof). A cream liqueur variant called Disaronno Velvet is also available.
- Production: It is exclusively produced in Saronno, in the Lombardy region of Italy, by the family-owned company Illva Saronno S.p.A..Â
- Neat or on the rocks: Served over ice to appreciate its smooth texture and intense flavors.
- In cocktails: It is an essential ingredient in classic cocktails such as the Amaretto Sour and the Godfather (mixed with whiskey).
